The film attempts to look at the experience of living in Budh Vihar, Munirka. Issues around water, caste, class and violence emerge as Manju, a spirited young woman shares her views and takes us on a tour of the locality.
Akshika is a graduate in Physics and a post-graduate in Creative Documentary in filmmaking from SACAC, Delhi. She has been trained in various facets of non-fiction filmmaking by FTII alumnus. Her project B-22, a ten-minute documentary, is about an experience of living in Budh Vihar, Munirka. Issues about water, caste, class and violence emerge as Manju, a spirited young woman shares her views and takes us on a tour of the locality. The film was selected in 9th Vibgyor International Short and Documentary film festival. Three other student projects of hers have been screened at the 3rd Student Film Festival of India (SFII) and all of them have been nominated for National Student Film Awards (NFSA).
She is currently working as a video editor in a Delhi-based organisation called Khabar Lahariya. Shilpi Saluja: Born in Delhi, Shilpi Saluja earned her Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication at Amity University, Noida, in 2012 and Post Graduate Diploma in Creative Documentary Course at Sri Aurobindo Centre for Arts and Communication, Delhi in 2014. Her student projects have been screened at various festivals. B-22 (10 min, 2014) a documentary that she made with a fellow student raises issues around water, caste, class and violence in a locality in Delhi, and was shown at the Vibgyor Film Festival in Thrissur. Her diploma film Koi dekhne wala hai? (19 min, 2014) explores the sense of touch and music in the lives of children in a residential school, and has been widely appreciated for its evocative imagery and sensitive treatment. It has been shown at the FD Zone Screenings, IAWRT Asian Women’s film festival, 3rd National Students’ film festival, The woodpecker film festival, DOOSRA CHASHMA curated by Ms Smriti Nevatia, Bangalore International Film Festival 2016. Also, won the Best Film Award at the 12th edition of We Care film festival, 2014 and Best Editing Award at 4th Kolkata shorts international film festival, 2015.
